I don't think you should turn it completely off if it's installing something. Switch it to standby mode instead, it should download and install things automatically in this mode anyway. In fact, I don't think you should turn it completely off ever.
As long as you don't have a good reason to turn it off then I would keep it on standby. The system isn't made to endure constant cold boots much like a high end PC.
